‘Ogni Altro Suono presents a free Deep Listening Workshop with Diana Lola Posani, for a maximum of 20 participants, with registration on the following form.

Diana Lola Posani, sound artist, vocal performer and Deep Listening facilitator certified by the Deep Listening Foundation. She is currently interested in working on the common space between sound and poetic imagery through interdisciplinary works and sound poems.

Her work has been presented at MACRO museum of contemporary art (Rome), Errant Sound (Berlin), Tsonami Sound Art Festival (Valparaiso), I AM UNDONE festival (Oslo) and at the MEZZ’ARIA exhibition curated by NUB project space.

His new vocal projects will be presented in autumn at the Spanish Academy in Rome, at the MADRE Museum of Contemporary Art in Naples and at the MAO – Museum of Oriental Art in Turin. She is the author of the translations of ‘Deep Listening – La pratica sonora di una compositrice’ and ‘Quantum Listening’ by Pauline Oliveros for the Timeo publishing house.

The workshop aims to introduce the work of Pauline Oliveros, American composer, improviser and performer, who in the 1970s created Deep Listening, a set of exercises, scores and meditations that explore the difference between the involuntary nature of hearing and the voluntary and selective nature of listening. For her, deep listening is ‘learning to expand the perception of sounds to include the entire space-time continuum of sound, encompassing as much of its vastness and complexity as possible’.
Oliveros’ practice reminds us how the ability to perceive depends on the continuous dance of our attention, and through textural scores she opens up radical questions about the nature of sound: what is the difference between a remembered sound, a dreamed sound and one just heard? Where does sound end and memory begin?
Collective reflection and action will be aimed at deconstructing and removing these perceptual distinctions, exploring listening as a poetic tool for expanding the boundaries of reality.

The workshop will conclude with individual participants devising personal listening
