Oasis – Bekhbaatar Enkhtur

The work starts from “The journey of William of Rubruck to the eastern parts of the world”, the report of the journey that the Franciscan monk made in Mongolia in the 13th century, in which the journey is described as a movement which it is done to meet another who is not known or possessed and for this reason invites to be reached. Starting from that concept, the artist meditates on the encounter between the visual suggestions and specific themes of the Mongolian nomadic culture, from which he comes, and those of the territory in which he finds himself working, Grecia Salentina. When the thirst for knowledge pushes one to walk, the other to oneself, to be reached and known, can also be a land, more or less close.
