“Home Sweet Home”, consisting of two works, “Mà sto tornando” and “Zona Velenata”, was developed during
the residency at Lastation (Gagliano del Capo, LE). “Mà sto tornando” is a photographic triptych that documents a
performance realized in the campaigns of Gagliano del Capo in which the artist uses bird food to write the sentence that gives the work its title. The action, through the metaphor of the mother-child bond, highlighted by the material used,reflects on youth migration in Southern Italy. “Zona Velenata” is a neon sign, which refers to a signboard found in the fields of Gagliano del Capo. The appropriation of this warning sign (“zona velenata” in italian means “poisoned area”) transforms the need for hospitality highlighted by the writing made with the bird feed into a sign of danger and hostility.
