Fischia e io verrò da te – lenzuolo n.1 it is part of a corpus of works created at the end of the residency as part of the A sud di Marte project. The original setup included six sheets hand-embroidered by the artist, a two-channel video and an audio created in collaboration with the sound designer Mauro Diciocia. The overall work, whose title is inspired by the story of the same name by Montague Rhodes James, is an interpretation of the concept of counter-time and, through this, a reflection on the history, tradition, folklore and particular dialect of the territory, the Griko, which makes the area a linguistic island. The artist uses the tools of workshops and games with children to investigate their meaning and peculiar characteristics, made so – also – by the environment and culture of the places. He further involves the community by asking the ladies of the town for donations of sheets which he then embroiders personally.
