Ramdom APS, within the executive project for the cultural enhancement of the historic center of Gagliano del Capo (LE), ‘Development and Cohesion Fund (FSC 2014-2020) ex CIPE Resolution no. 3/2016 and subsequent amendments reclassified in the Development and Cohesion Plan (PSC) of the Ministry of Culture with Del. CIPESS No 7/2021’, launches this notice of expression of interest for the entrustment of artistic projects, in collaboration with the Embassy and Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. This notice is aimed at identifying three projects by national and international contemporary artists that contribute to the investigation of extreme lands undertaken by Ramdom since 2014. Specifically, projects are required to explore the village of Gagliano del Capo (LE) in order to reflect on the various themes that the historic center evokes, among all interculturality, which has always characterized the history of the area, and which today more than ever appears central. The projects will have to enhance and expand the cultural offer through the creation of artistic productions such as: installations, digital art, land art, video projections.
The historic village of Gagliano del Capo has two distinctive characteristics: on the one hand the small size made of few intertwined streets and micro squares. On the other hand, it leans on the strait of the Otranto Canal, the last anthropic outpost before nature takes over the human in the form of countryside, promontory and sea.
On the one hand a treasure chest full of stories and experiences, a microworld of relationships and life plots. On the other, a launch pad for a look that turns elsewhere, or a landing point for the life trajectories that have reached our country from elsewhere over the years.
The purpose of this call is to question contemporary artistic expression and sensitivity on this dual value. The historic centre of Gagliano will offer two contrary and complementary impulses that have always characterized every identity (individual, community, national): looking within oneself, and looking outside oneself, in a necessarily provisional attempt to answer the question: who am I?
Recipients
The current expression of interest is open to artists and creatives operating in any field of all nationalities without age limits.
Project proposals which can be put in dialogue with the digital environment (also through the recording and documentation of performances, installations, photos, videos, works of public art) will be taken into special consideration.
What is offered
Accommodation (in case of living outside a 60 km radium from Gagliano del Capo);
Fees amounted to 1500 euro (gross of any taxes, charges and withholdings), that will be balanced upon presentation of a regular invoice or withholding tax.
Timing
Opening of the notice: November 10th, 2025.
Deadline: January 2nd, 2026.
Period of projects development: March – May 2026
Residency duration: to be agreed.
The period and duration are for guidance and will be agreed subsequently with the artists based on the mutual needs of the parties.
