In the occasion of the residencies’ cycle that will take place in the Extreme Lands under the title Sino alla fine del mare (Until the end of the sea) at Lastation, Claudio Zecchi (independent curator https://www.ramdom.net/new/claudio-zecchi/), fosters a series of lectures, talks, video projections, and workshop. The activities, that will last for the duration of one week, aim to explore the relationship between the art and the public sphere. Starting from the project Practices as an Intersection in a Fragile Environment, a long-term empirical research that Zecchi is developing in some specific places around the world investigating the same topic – the project already took place under different forms in Italy, US, UK and soon in Brazil – the proposed activities will try to unearth how a discursive curatorial approach could inform the mutual relationship between the practices (artistic, curatorial, institutional) the territory, the communities and the legacy that this kind of projects generate.
Three films will be projected: Il Castello di Massimo D’Anolfi e Martina Parenti, La Ville Engloutie di Zimmerfrei e Ogni Opera di Confessione di Alberto Gemmi e Mirco Marmiroli. The last one will be discussed and deepened in its aesthetic-formal dynamics and content at the presence of Alberto Gemmi.
The film: A man decided to buy an attic in a peculiar area of the city. From the windows of this building one can see a huge abounded area. It is an industrial complex from the glorious past, which lies waiting for an articulated process of redevelopment. Meanwhile, a Rom family has long stopped in a camper, interacting with the spaces of these structures, while an old worker, dreams of flying for the last time. Sounds and gestures sew the landscape to man representing a common dignity in dealing with the time that in the meantime flows.
