Ramdom APS, as part of the project Il Borgo del Contemporaneo di Castrignano de’ Greci realized with the support of the European Union – NextGenerationEU Measure 2.1 of the PNRR “Attractiveness of Villages,” launches the call Ogni casa è un villaggio for the selection of two national and international artists/artists under 35 (domiciled in Italy) for the performance of residencies of a total duration of two months each to be carried out between February and July 2024.
The residency program, hosted at KORA Centro del Contemporaneo (Castrignano de’ Greci, LE), promotes a period of research, with public restitution, inscribed in the conceptual path developed by Ramdom over the past 12 years: the investigation of peripheral territories, the South and the Mediterranean.
Specifically, it invites a reflection inspired by the concept of ‘margin’ expressed by feminist writer and activist bell hooks: “To be the margin is to be part of the whole but outside the main body.” Extrapolating the concept of marginality expressed by hooks, is it possible to imagine its application to contemporary artistic production? How is this marginal dimension experienced? What does it mean to be marginal? Compared to what and to whom? What does it imply to be outside a center? Can art and culture be the catalysts in the process of building a new model of community?
Each artist will be able to carry out a research inspired by these suggestions and following a specific theme that will be proposed to the selection committee.
The residencies will take place in two periods: February/April and May/July 2024.
