Natural light is one of the elements that makes many of the caves that are created in the ravines on the east coast of Salento so magical. One in particular, the Vucca de lu puzzu (Mouth of the Well), appeared to the artist’s eyes in all its magnificence and majesty. During his exploration, falling into this cave and hitting his head on the rocks of this area, Carlos Casas understood the intimate bond that links caves, stones and lights to the most remote places of the human soul.
The Spanish artist’s exhibition presents works made in the area and investigates the Capo di Leuca in its most intimate nature, offering an interpretation, but at the same time, opening up many questions. After all, we are like prisoners chained from birth in the depths of a cave.
