Lia Cecchin

Lia Cecchin (Feltre, 1987; lives and works in Turin) is an artist and researcher. Her practice is characterized by the denial of any kind of creative act. Reality is her field of research. She exhibits films, books and common objects, inserting them in new narratives where potentially everyone can recognize themselves as protagonists. Through an archival methodology, a vast shared code is gathered, capable of describing our present and hypothesizing a possible and realistic imminent future.
In 2010 she graduated in Visual and Performing Arts at the IUAV University of Venice. She has participated in residency programs at Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa (Venice), Halle 14 (Leipzig), Lastation (Gagliano del Capo) and in workshops held by tutors such as: Massimo Bartolini, Alberto Garutti and Marta Kuzma at the Fondazione Spinola Banna (Poirino); Luca Francesconi and Luca Morena during Solid Void at Progetto Diogene (Turin); Krist Gruijthuijsen, Lucy McKenzie and Fredi Fischli & Niels Olsen curated by La Quadriennale di Roma at Madre (Naples).
Her works have been exhibited in institutions, galleries and non-profit spaces in Italy and abroad, including: AKV (‘s-Hertogenbosch); Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa (Venice); GAM (Milan); Associazione Barriera (Turin); Fabbrica del Vapore (Milan); CLOG (Turin); Fanta Spazio (Milan); PAV Parco Arte Vivente (Turin); Greylight Projects (Brussels); MAMbo (Bologna); Museo Giovanni Fattori (Livorno); A+A Gallery (Venice). In March 2020 she will present “Una città cancella, l’altra scrive” (One city cancels, the other writes), a public work of art created for the park of Villa Croce, the museum’s headquarters, as part of Fondamenta I, a project promoted by Amixi for contemporary art in collaboration with the City Council’s Department of Culture and curated by Luca Cerizza.
Among the various awards and recognitions: Combat 2018 (first prize – sculpture and installation section), Francesco Fabbri 2018 (finalist).
